What Chanel, Amiri, Messika and Rolex Taught Me About Luxury

What Chanel, Amiri, Messika and Rolex Taught Me About Luxury

MBA in Luxury Brand Management, Batch 2026–28

My journey at Luxury Connect Business School began with a mix of excitement, curiosity and nervousness. When I first reached LCBS, my immediate impression was that the campus seemed quite small. However, as soon as I entered, the atmosphere started to feel welcoming. The security guard took my name and asked me to wait in a room where I met two other students, Prerna and Mehak. We introduced ourselves to each other, and this small interaction helped me feel a little more comfortable.

While sitting there, I noticed several certificates displayed on the walls, which gave me an idea about the achievements of the institution. There was also a video playing on the television about “how to sell a bottle of water,” which immediately caught my attention. As more students started arriving, the nervousness slowly turned into excitement about what the next three days would bring.

Day 1 – Beginning My LCBS Journey

MBA in luxury brand management: the LCBS batch of 2026–28The first day began with Saul handing us our documents, agreement papers and the module for the 2026–2028 batch. The welcome kit also included the induction schedule and an overview of the upcoming academic structure. We then gathered in a classroom, where we were introduced to Akshay Sir and learned more about LCBS. One of the first activities was introducing ourselves to the entire batch. Although speaking in front of a new group initially felt slightly uncomfortable, it was a great opportunity to start getting to know everyone. We then went on a campus tour, followed by a refreshment break.

Later, Rashmi Ma’am and Akshay Sir explained the college rules, academic structure, attendance requirements, examination process and other important guidelines. After lunch, we had an ice-breaking session that made the atmosphere much more relaxed. We played games such as Chinese Whispers and a blindfolded treasure-hunt-style activity. I was one of the team leaders, which made the activity even more exciting. Our team successfully completed the challenge and won KitKat and Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates.

The day continued with an ADL presentation by Akshay Sir, where he introduced us in detail to the ADL Milan, Italy programme for MBA students. He explained the three-month programme, the opportunity to study in Milan, the learning experience, accommodation arrangements, and how the international exchange programme would work, followed by documentation and a briefing about our industry visit scheduled for the next day. At the end of the first day, we were also given a welcome gift consisting of an LCBS bag and an LCBS mug with the LCBS logo printed on it, which was a lovely way to conclude the day.

Day 2 – Experiencing the World of Luxury

The second day was one of the most exciting parts of the induction because we stepped outside the classroom and experienced the luxury industry first-hand. We visited Chanakya Mall, Delhi, where we explored four luxury brands — Chanel, Amiri, Messika and Rolex. At Chanel, we met Shivanshu, who introduced us to some of the brand’s iconic products, including its famous bags, jackets and other collections. We also met Aman, the head of the Chanel boutique. Observing the products closely and understanding their

details gave me a completely different perspective on luxury. Among all the brands we visited, Chanel left a particularly strong impression on me. I felt connected to the brand and could truly experience how luxury is created through products, presentation, storytelling and attention to detail.

At Amiri, Prachi introduced us to the brand, its concept, seasonal collections and the way it operates in the luxury market. At Messika, we learned about diamonds, their concept, the different types of diamonds used and the brand’s unique presence in India. Finally, our Rolex visit gave us an insight into the demand and exclusivity associated with the brand, including the long waiting periods for its watches. After returning to campus, we were briefed about preparing presentations based on our industry visits.

Day 3 – AI, Luxury and the Future

The third day brought us an opportunity to interact with industry professionals. We had guest speakers including Radha Kapoor Khanna, Devanshu Dutta and Sulakshana Pathak, who shared their experiences and perspectives on the topic of how AI is likely to impact the future workforce in the luxury industry. The discussion helped us understand that although technology and AI are transforming industries, luxury continues to depend heavily on relationships, human interaction, personalisation and customer experience.

After lunch, we presented our industry-visit projects. I presented my project on Chanel, the brand that had made the strongest impression on me during the visit. The day concluded with documentation and MSU form filling, followed by a valuable interaction with Abhay Sir, who spoke about consistency, having a role model and understanding the industry while building a career in luxury.

My Learnings & Takeaways

The three-day induction taught me that luxury is much more than expensive products—it is about stories, experiences, patience, and purpose. On Day 1, I learned the importance of rules, teamwork, leadership, and how ice-breaking activities can create meaningful connections. Day 2 gave me a real understanding of the luxury industry through Chanel, Amiri, Messika, and Rolex. Chanel taught me that it is never too late to start again, Amiri showed me the importance of understanding new generations and trends, Messika reminded me of the value of our upbringing and experiences, while Rolex taught me that luxury can also mean patience and waiting for something you truly desire. On Day 3, the guest speakers inspired me through their journeys and showed me the value of experience and growth. Most importantly, Mr. Abhay taught me that consistency can take us closer to what we desire. The industry presentation also brought back my excitement for creativity and presentations.

Memories & Conclusion

One of my favourite memories was the blindfolded treasure hunt, where our six-member team found six chits, with each chit carrying a clue or instruction.

We decided to give one chit to each member as a small keepsake of our teamwork and the fun we shared. We also captured some of our favourite moments through pictures. My biggest takeaway from these three days is that luxury is not just about money or expensive products; it is about experiences, relationships, and meaningful connections. Whether it is a luxury brand, a startup, or any business, understanding people and building genuine connections is what truly creates luxury.
