PGP in Luxury Brand Management: the first step towards studying luxury management in India & Milan
Reflections from my three-day orientation at Luxury Connect Business School
The beginning of a new academic journey always brings a sense of anticipation, but this one felt especially significant. From 2nd to 4th September, I attended the three-day orientation at Luxury Connect Business School as I began the Postgraduate Program in Luxury Brand Management. The course is structured as a nine-month hybrid program, followed by a three-month international module in Italy at Accademia del Lusso, making the journey ahead both inspiring and intellectually exciting.

What stood out during the orientation was that it went far beyond a conventional introduction. It offered a meaningful first glimpse into the world of luxury—a world defined by heritage, craftsmanship, attention to detail, emotional value and exceptional experiences. Over these three days, I was introduced not only to the institution and the structure of the program, but also to the people, perspectives and professional mindset that will shape the year ahead.
As I look forward, I sense that this program will be much more than an academic course. It is an opportunity to understand luxury beyond products and labels, and to view it as a refined language of storytelling, service, culture and aspiration. The orientation set a strong tone for the months ahead and left me eager to discover how this experience will shape me, both professionally and personally.
Day one, on 2nd September, began with an introduction that made the start of the program feel official and purposeful. We were introduced to the faculty, given our handbooks and important documents, and taken through the academic calendar for the year. The session helped us understand the structure of our schedules, the progression of the course and the rules and regulations we would be expected to follow. We were also briefed on the academic framework, including assessments, examinations and overall expectations. Alongside this, the day included interactive activities around campus, which created an easy and welcoming space to connect with our batch mates from the very beginning.
The second day took us outside the classroom for a field visit to The Chanakya. Although I had visited The Chanakya several times as a customer, experiencing it through the lens of an industry visit felt entirely different. We explored brands such as Chanel, Rolex, Messika Jewelry and Amiri, and interacted with members of the client servicing teams as well as senior brand representatives. Each interaction offered valuable insight into the products, their craftsmanship, legacy and service philosophy. It was a rare opportunity to understand details that may not always be visible to a regular customer, and it helped me see how luxury is built not only through exquisite products, but also through the experience, emotion and precision surrounding them.

Day three brought together everything we had observed and absorbed. We were addressed by industry leaders Sulakshana Pathak, Radha Kapoor Khanna and Devanshu Dutta, along with our chairman, Mr. Abhay Gupta. Their session gave us thoughtful insights into the industry, the learning journey ahead and the attitude with which we should approach this experience. One of the most engaging discussions was around artificial intelligence and its growing role in luxury. The conversation made me reflect on the fact that while technology can enhance processes, it cannot replace originality, human skill, creativity and the emotional intelligence that lie at the heart of luxury.

The brand presentations were among the most memorable parts of the orientation. Presenting my own observations gave me a sense of confidence and reassurance that I had entered the right space. I found myself connecting with the brands, their narratives and the subtle details we were encouraged to notice. Listening to my batch mates was equally enriching, as each person brought a distinct point of view shaped by different backgrounds, cultures and interpretations of luxury. The atmosphere was encouraging, and the way we supported one another created an early sense of belonging. As someone who will also experience the program in a hybrid format, this interpersonal connection makes the journey feel more grounded and meaningful.
Moving forward, my goal is to use this program to build a strong foundation in luxury brand management and discover where I can contribute most meaningfully within the industry. I hope to deepen my understanding of consumer experience, brand strategy, communication and global luxury practices, while also identifying my own strengths and direction. With the exposure at LCBS and the international module in Italy ahead, I look forward to growing not only as a student of luxury, but also as a future professional who can bring creativity, confidence, sensitivity and clarity to this field.
